Genesis: Remote IR not working

This guide will walk you through the process of troubleshooting your Genesis remote when the IR is not working. The IR on the remote allows you to change the colors of the phasers, set them to sleep, reset a single phaser and much more.

Things to try:

Using the remote control go to “service” > point the remote at the phasers and press “reset phaser” a few times, the phaser should flash white.

If it doesn’t work, go to “service” > “advanced +” > “remote config menu” > “diagnostic” > and make sure the “IR emitter” comes back as “OK” if it does not, press “refresh” a couple of times.

Next, make sure the IRT value is set as 0xFF and not 0x00.

Lastly, open the remote and make sure the IR emitters are not broken or damaged. If they are, replace the IR if they are plugged into the board. If the IR is soldered on, replace the remote mainboard.
