Evolution – Phaser display is blank

Problem Overview

You have an LCD “blackout” when you can see the backlight of the LCD light up but the screen looks dark because all of the LCD segments are active. This problem can often be solved by “resetting” the LCD screen as follows.

1. Turn the phaser off with a key

2. Unplug the LCD

3. Plug the LCD back in

4. Turn the Phaser on with a key

5. Check if the LCD no longer “blacks out”

If LCD is still “blacked out,” repeat steps 1 to 5.

6. Plug the phaser into a charger and power off. Leave it alone for a few minutes and then power it back on.

7. If the above 5 steps don’t work after 3 tries replace the LCD or cable with a new one.

8. Replace phaser mainboard if a new LCD or cable does not fix it.
