Genesis – Charging Rack Setup

In this article, you will learn how assemble a genesis charge rack, replace parts on a rack and how it functions.

The racks are powered from one central point off of a power brick. These are located in your black power box underneath the vest hanger. Each hanger is daisy-chained together meaning that one board brings in the power from the power brick and transfers the power down the line.

ADDING THE RAILS

When installing a Genesis charge rack start by laying all of your rails out against the wall. This will be easier to visualize rather then using a measuring tape. Make sure the end of your rails are not too close to a door frame or overhanging any walls.

Start with the left side of your wall and have your your rail end with the “tongue” going to the left. This will make it easier to overlap the pieces. You can then use screws to attach each rail to the wall. Make sure you are using plywood for your wall structure as it is difficult to attach to drywall or hit the studs.

As you attach more hangers make sure you are leveling them as you go. You can also take a spacer and slide it along. If it gets caught, you may not be level.

POWER BOX ASSEMBLY
Mount the box over your outlet. Grab the strap that holds the power brick in place and run it through the holes on the power box. Next, run the strap through the plastic piece. Once assembled, place the power brick in between the strap and tighten.

Once the power bricks are in place, run the cables through the hole in the power box at the top. Grab your plastic tubing and cut to length. Run your cable through the tubing, up through the neck and feed the cable to your first hanger. You can then add two spacers to the side of the neck.

SPACERS, WIRES AND HANGERS

As you add your spacers you will have three spacers in between each hanger. The “neck” counts as a spacer for the power box. Once the spacers are in place, start to run your power cables behind three spacers at a time as shown in the example photo. You can also use your hanger mount as a guide for spacing.

HANGER ASSEMBLY

In this photo, the black cable is the incoming power source and the colored cable passes through power to the next hanger. Never attach more than 6 hangers together. This can cause unwanted charging issues.

Make sure your induction coil is plugged in correctly and be careful when installing or removing your charging board. Note the position of the hanger board and the induction coil.

When removing or installing a hanger board, they are held in by at least 2 points of contact.

To remove the hanger, undo the long bolt and nut that is holding the two pieces together. You can also remove the hanger rail attachment by removing the two set screws.

Make sure you have a firm hold on the hanger so it does not fall and rip the cables.

Securing the Charging Cable

Securing the charging cable is important in order to prevent accidental damage from pulling. Follow these steps to secure the cable to the vest hanger.

Place a white cable clamp onto the charging cable on the underneath side of the vest hanger.

Secure the cable clamp to the screw hole near the back of the hanger’s underside using the provided screw. The screw is the same 2.5mm hex as the vests and phasers.

When finished, the hanger should look like this:

FINAL PRODUCT

Once everything is ran and mounted in place your rack should look something like this.
